Dear
Winter Camp Parent
As
you read our list of “What to Bring” to our Winter Ski & Snowboard
Camp, you will notice a HELMET
is STRONGLY SUGGESTED this year. Although we are not able to mandate this,
we hope that you will strongly advise your child as to the critical nature
of this standard safety gear. Although, each year, more of our campers
are wearing helmets (approximately 70% last winter), there are still too
many fashion conscious teenagers who don't want to acknowledge:
-
that skiing or snowboarding into a tree has much less to do with ability
and more to do with slope conditions, visibility, crowds, and distractions.
- that the
tree won't break but your head will.
- today's
helmets are very comfortable and light weight.
- today's
helmets breathe much better than fleece or wool hats.
- BOTH skiers
AND snowboarders wear helmets! Just watch the X-Games!
- Helmets
are COOL - Brain Damage is NOT!
If
you are not ready to purchase one, helmet rentals are available at the
Ski Roundtop Rental Shop for $10/day (cash only).
