Kayaking for Scouts
Ultimate Watersports offers several programs for scouts wishing to earn merit badges in watersports specific areas. All scout programs are conducted at our Baltimore, Maryland locations.
Introduction to Kayaking
Scout outings must be reserved in advance
Saturdays & Sundays: 10am-1pm or 2-5pm
Weekdays: 3-6pm
$45.00 per scout
Scouts will learn the fundamentals of kayaking (including boating and kayaking safety) with certified kayak instructors while enjoying some of the Chesapeake’s most beautiful and pristine tributaries! Discover the flora and fauna of the Gunpowder River while learning paddling skills, water-safety, self-rescue, boarding, and exiting your kayak. Blue Heron, Bald Eagles, turtles, deer, and red fox are just some of the spectacular sights you’ll enjoy on your Kayak Eco-Tour!
Please Note:
- Basic swimming skills are a pre-requisite for each Ultimate Watersports class. Water sport booties, swim-suit, sun block and a beach towel are necessary. All classes are geared for FUN & LEARNING.
- There is a Maryland DNR service charge of $3 per person required to enter the state park.
- Minimum: 8 participants per class
- Maximum: 24 participants per class
- Includes instruction & tour.
- Scout leaders and parents are always welcome!
What to Bring
Scouts participating in any of our programs will need to bring the following equipment:
- BackPack
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen (min. spf 30)
- Lip Balm
- Swim suit
- Beach towel
- Water bottle
- Personal Insulated Lunch Bag/Container
- Windbreaker top
- Sweatshirt or Fleece Top
- Dry change of clothes (shorts, socks, t-shirt)
- Sandals or Water Sport Shoes (booties)
- Tennis Shoes or Hiking Shoes
- Disposable Camera
